Parent Memo 5/31/18

PRINCIPAL’S CORNER:

We made it! The year has swept by and we find ourselves at the end. My first year has been a whirlwind of learning new systems and meeting new people and especially of getting to know your children. I have enjoyed every minute of it!!!! Best wishes for a fun and safe summer for all our school families and we will see you back in the Fall. Thank you for welcoming me and making me feel at home here. I eagerly look forward to many years together. Please keep up with the school’s website for reminders and important dates for the Fall. The calendar will continue to be updated as more items are added throughout the summer.

In Service,

Ms. Laura

GRADUATION THANKS
I’d like to extend a hearty thanks to the 6th and 7th grade parents as well as to the PTO Board for hosting a lovely graduation reception and dance for our 8th graders. I received lots of positive feedback and most importantly, the kids had a great time and left with a wonderful memory. I appreciate the time and effort that went into planning and executing the event.

SAC (School Advisory Committee)
Please take a moment to consider serving on the School Advisory Committee next year. This committee meets once every quarter (4 times a year) and advises the Principal and assists in driving the mission of the school. I would like to better structure the SAC committee next year to include specific skills. It would be helpful to have a financially oriented person, a person versed in building and maintenance, someone who has skills in advertising/marketing and another person (or the same person) who knows public relations/social media/communications. We could also use a person with strong administrative skills to help out with internal communications with the Board, meeting minutes, etc…I certainly don’t claim to know everything but I am smart enough to know that surrounding myself with talented people who can provide wise counsel and advice is the most successful way to operate a school, so please consider serving on the SAC committee for next year. If you are interested, just shoot me an email and we will pursue the conversation.

FACULTY CHANGES FOR NEXT YEAR (repeated from last week)
The school will be bidding farewell to Ms. Berndt and Mrs. Rosenberg at the end of this school year. We wish them both well and thank them for their dedication and service to the school.

We will be welcoming a new teacher, Ms. Angela Nizza. Angela is moving to Fayetteville from Orlando, Florida. She is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She currently works for the Diocese of Orlando and is excited to be joining us next year. We will also be welcoming Mrs. Elsa Baker as a co-teacher/assistant in the PreK class. Mrs. Baker also comes from Florida and carries PreK certification. She currently is a co-teacher in a PreK class. The 3rd grade class will welcome a co-teacher/assistant, Mrs. Michelle Schimp. Mrs. Schimp has worked with our school in conjunction with Long Leaf Academy and has extensive experience in individualized teaching.

Of course, you know that Mrs Fitzpatrick will be retiring and we are excited to have Mrs. Jennifer Mathieu as our new
