The PTO and Firehouse Subs are sponsoring the first restaurant fundraiser of the year next Tuesday, September 24th, from 3:30 pm – 9:00 pm. Just eat in or take out at Firehouse Subs on Glensford Rd. and a percentage of the sales will be donated back to the school. Make sure you tell the cashier that you are purchasing on behalf of St. Patrick School. Please participate if you can. It is through the wonderful work of the PTO and other donations that the school is able to keep the tuition as low as possible. Have your child turn in their purchase receipt and get a “free dress” pass to be used on the following day, Wednesday, September 25th.

Please be reminded that there is no school on Monday, September 23rd, as it is a diocesan professional development day.

Save the date for school pictures as Wednesday, October 16, 2019. Students are to wear regular full school uniforms for this picture.

There has been some confusion about the grading scale for the “special area” classes because of the way the new grading program is translating it. Special area classes are graded on an E (Excellent), S(Satisfactory), N (Needs-improvement) and U (Unsatisfactory) scale. We grade more holistically for these classes because there is a large component of effort and participation for these classes. On Gradelink, the program translates the E,S,N,U to a number grade. That’s because it’s a computer brain and it has to align with the academic classes that use number grades. On the report cards, only the E,S N, U letters will show, not the percentages. So, the equivalent scale has been created as the following:

E   = 97% – 100%

S+ = 93% – 96%

S   = 87% – 92%

S-  = 80% – 86%

N+ = 77% – 79%

N   = 73% – 76%

N-  = 67%- 72%

U+ = 63% – 66%

U   = 60% – 62%

U-  = under 60%

Please note the attached flyer offering a Martial Arts after-school program. I have spoken to the director, and in order for St Patrick’s to have an on-site class, we will need to have at least 20 students. If we aren’t able to register that number, then interested parents can pursue classes with this organization at other locations. The registration and first class will be here at school on Monday, September 30th, in Kennedy Hall (lunchroom) from 3:15 – 4:00 pm. Please see details of class and registration in the flyer attached to this newsletter.

Gradelink has a feature where you can receive alerts on your phone whenever grades have been changed for your child or a grade has been entered that is below what you consider acceptable. In order to do this, please follow the steps below. If you need help, please pop in to see Ms. College during the upcoming parent/teacher conference days.

  1. Login to Gradelink (can be setup on both family and student account)
  2. On left side, click on the Alerts tab
  3. Check the box beside alerts you would like to get notified about. Once an alert has been checked, please make sure to change the letter of the grade you want to be notified about.
  4. Click submit changes.
    1. If you would like to apply this to all of the student’s classes, please click apply these settings to all of (student’s names) classes,
    2. If you only want it to apply to certain classes, click at the top to select each class you would like to setup alerts for.
  5. Please make sure the email is correct for sending alerts. If not, then please click on Edit Email Addresses and correct it.
