Parent Memo March 8, 2019

PRINCIPAL’S CORNER:

The season of Lent has begun and it shouldn’t be a sad and grim season. On the contrary, it is a season to spend more time with Jesus and less with the noise and distractions of the world. Even though the children are not required to observe fasts because of their ages, Pope Francis has asked us to fast in other ways and we will focus on teaching the children to “fast” from hurtful things..from hurting words, from anger, from complaints, from worries. These are all ways to fast that are helpful and healthy for children and for adults as well. During this season of prayerful reflection, we pray that your family is blessed with the healing compassion and generous love of our Savior.

In Service,

Ms. Laura

RE-REGISTRATION DEADLINE!!!

We have extended the registration deadline for returning families because many of you have had trouble re-registering online. If you are not able to complete the online registration, then please fill out the hard copy form. You can also call or email the office just to let us know you want us to hold your child’s space. Registration of new families is starting out briskly this year and we cannot hold your space if we have not heard anything from you, so please let us know ASAP.

DIAPER AND WIPES DRIVE EXTENDED

We will extend the diaper and baby wipes collection drive until Monday since many working parents shop on weekends. Also, all the donations are piling up in the office because the children are trying to “bury me” in diapers. I have challenged them to do so, and I know they would be excited to accomplish that. Please consider this as a lovely Lenten almsgiving.

ST.PATRICK’S DAY 5/10K RUN AND SHAMROCK KIDS RUN (Also see flyer below)

FAQ:

Q: Can kids run the 5K and the Shamrock Kids Race?
A: Yes! If a child 12 and under runs the 5K they also get to participate for FREE in the Shamrock Kids Race. All runners 12 and under receive a finishers medal. (Over 12 will be competitive category only.) Just be sure to leave your bib on to prove your 5K registration when you move to the kids run.

Q: Can parents or older sibling/adult run with the smallest runners in the Shamrock Kids Run?
A: Of course! Just line up with them in their age category. No registration required. Just one “encourager” per child, please.

Q: How long is the Shamrock Kids Run?
A: This is a short, fun age divided course meant to give kids a positive run experience. The longest course is approximately 1/4 mile for ages 8-12. Younger ambitious runners are also welcome to join in the longest course. Kids will run in various age heats.
